Created in 2008, Catapult is former Pilobolus member Adam Battelstein’s take on ancient Chinese shadow theatre, using bodies instead of puppets. Nothing is left open for interpretation. Accessible to all, the wordless stories transcend language delivering the message clearly and ably.

Catapult was propelled into public awareness during its appearance on America’s Got Talent in 2013. The company uses acrobatics, tumbling, balance and contortions to cast shapes behind a giant screen.

For its Gogue Center appearance, Catapult will perform a program of works, including “Four Seasons,” “Berlin Wall,” “Milestones,” “Spy,” “Angel Heart,” “Bullies,” “Go West” and “A Traveller’s Tale.”

This kind of performance—in which dancers, in silhouette behind a lighted screen, create a world of creatures, objects and landscapes using their bodies and a few props—never fails to fascinate.
