Amphitheatre
One of the most impressive guitarists to emerge from the rich Southern Louisiana bayous in recent years, Tab Benoit’s guitar tone can be recognized before his Otis Redding-ish voice resonates from the speakers. His set up is simple: a guitar, cord, and Category 5 Amplifier. The effects that you hear come from his fingers.
For this Amphitheatre performance, Benoit teams up with The Dirty Dozen Brass Band. Since their founding in 1977, the New Orleans-based group has become a world-famous music machine synonymous with genre-bending romps and high-octane performances. Incorporating a blend of genres including bebop, funk and R&B, the band describes their sound as “musical gumbo.” The Dirty Dozen Brass Band has toured across five continents, more than 30 countries, recorded 12 studio albums and collaborated with artists ranging from Widespread Panic to Norah Jones.
“[Tab] should be giving George Thorogood lessons in how to rock the blues like there’s no next hour, let alone no tomorrow. With 33 years of experience under his belt, he is on fire.”
