The timeless 1939 film classic The Wizard of Oz returns to the big screen, with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra performing the score live at the Woltosz Theatre. Sing along to the music you love, and the songs you know by heart—from “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” to “The Merry Old Land of Oz”—for two magical evening concerts performed by the state’s foremost symphony orchestra.
The Alabama Symphony Orchestra (ASO) is a full-time orchestra that passionately pushes the boundaries of music through concert, education and creativity. The ASO began with the first performance by a group of volunteer musicians in 1921. Now, more than 100 years later, the efforts of that small volunteer orchestra evolved to become the state’s only full-time professional orchestra today.
“As the symphony played the score, the film was shown on a towering screen above them. The engagement of live music is a wonderful addition to viewing a movie.”
